The college football season seems to go by very quickly and this year is no exception. This year is flying by at a records pace and so far, the action has been exceptional. There have been a few surprises along the way and some not such big surprises. Take a quick glance:

Surprises —

Boise State Broncos: To the Boise State critics this program is no surprise. They are exactly who you thought they were. This team is supposed to have had it all figured out this year and 4th year quarterback Brett Rypien is supposed to ride off in the sunset having won BSU’s first ever National Championship as an FBS 1A University, wrong! Not going to happen. The Broncos made a trip to the Big 12! That was all it took to derail the Broncos and their journey. The offshore sportsbooks had the Oklahoma State Cowboys installed as a 3.5 point favorite and everyone took the bait; the opposite direction! BSU has suckered us all for the last time! This program sealed their fate when they let their one and only “big time” coach, Chris Petersen- when they let him sneak off to that other school that is struggling to get over the hump, Washington.

Vegas Odds vs. Offshore Odds, What's Better, What's the Difference?

Bryan Harsin will never win a championship for one reason, he is simply not in the ballpark with the coaching elites. The Boise State Broncos will continue to get respect in Vegas based on strength of schedule; they play a whole bunch of nobody’s! The one game in which they needed to rise to the occasion, they failed the test in miserable fashion when they let the Cowboys drop 44 on them. The entire game was miserable and even though it’s predictable, a big loss was surprising. Check with your favorite bookie for the latest numbers on BSU, but stay away for a game or two, hit them up in week 6.

Who is not a surprise? —

Alabama: We could say enough said! However, let’s actually take a quick look! What Alabama is doing is simply not surprising and for one reason; Nick Saban. He is the best college football coach in the history of organized college football. He recruits better than any other coach and it’s not even close. The real story is this— Saban no longer has to recruit, he gets the best players year in and year out for one reason-- his name is Nick Saban! Alabama has covered all three of their games this year--- Louisville 51-14, Ark. State 57-7, and Ole Miss 62-7.

How to Read Sports Betting Odds – Learn the Basics

The Crimson Tide welcome in Texas A&M this week, the opening line was -23.5 and it quickly moved to -27 and you might find it with some of the online bookies at -26.5 and even 26. Here is the problem with this number… As good as Alabama is and as good as they have played again this year and the fact that they are covering every game is a big deal, as good as all of that is; it’s difficult to lay -27 points against the #22 team in the country. Every time that Alabama is doubted, they make the doubters look stupid.

Texas A&M lost to the number two team in the country— Clemson, 28-26. They could have won this game but in the end some luck fell the Clemson way. This is certainly no knock on Clemson. They are always fantastic and they will certainly be there in the end again this year but what about this A&M game? Look, every year Alabama fails to cover a game or two. They will not cover every game, it won’t happen, no way no how! This week is a tough test for this great football team. They will need everything they have to beat A&M, and in the end, they prevail at home but it will be closer than 27 points.
